  1. The Taj Mahal was Shah Jahan’s imagination of Mumtaz’s home in paradise
  2. The Taj Mahal (73m) is taller than Qutub minar (72.5m).
  3. Taj Mahal attracts 2-4 million visitors annually with over 200,000 from overseas.
  4. Estimated cost of Taj at the time to be around 32 million Indian rupees, which in 2015 would be valued at around 52.8 billion Indian rupees ($827 million US)
  5. Emperor Shah Jahan had planned to construct another Taj Mahal in black marble on the other side of the river but the war with his sons interrupted his plans.
